Weekend Stumbles

I love StumbleUpon and every now and then I go stumbling while I take a break from my latest assignments. Here five of my recent Stumbles:

1. Most good writers want to avoid clichés. Cliches: Avoid Them Like The Plague helps you do just that with a list of some of the common ones.

2. Mslexia is a UK site for women writers. It’s always worth browsing around. I’d forgotten about it, but I was happy to find it again.

3. Caro Clarke gives advice on pitfalls to avoid when submitting your manuscript to an editor. If you want more free advice on writing, editing and publishing, check out my friend gracepub.

4. Using the word ‘said’ can get dull. No need to worry, though; now you can read other words for said and get some help.

5. My last stumble was an image that reminded me how lucky some of us are to live in countries where we can write pretty much what we like.

Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks for the mention. I think that anyone who can do something needs to teach others, that is the only way we will reduce the number of scam courses and books on freelance writing, and work at home.

So many writers are told that they can get published for $1500 – but they never sell their books. It is sad.

Most welcome, gracepub. I know you do a lot to help writers achieve their potential.
