I like the location independent mindset. I've been a freelancer since 1994 and would not have it any other way.

I suppose that upteen years in the military made me independent and left a love of travel and adventure. I've never felt that my freelancing could make me dependent on a location. Now, in the age of instant communication, I feel it even less. The only sad note is for my wife who is a slave to a major corporation. The up side is that we only have four more years until she retires.

Sounds ideal, John. I first got tuned into the LI lifestyle when working as a university lecturer. Not only was I more productive when working from home, but I also had more time for the rest of my life.

Sharon,

This is worth looking at, I think. I followed Lea today on Twitter and I'll spend some time reviewing the site.

Being a freelancer is hard work, but one of the benefits is having the ability to explore the world a bit and still earn income.

Cheers

George

I've been very fortunate that my freelance writing field -- writing college textbook supplements -- has allowed my to be totally location independent.

I've lived on Kaua'i in the Hawaiian Islands for three years, on the rural northern California coast for five years, and now I live near Mount Shasta, my favorite mountain spot in the world.
