It's fun to "Switch off" once in a while. Whenever I do that I realize that I need to change elements about my business plan. Typically I need a break when I feel things are going in a different direction than what they need to go in. Glad you had a nice break.

Reading is one way that I switch off, too, Ashok. And it's useful to be able to note down thoughts as they come to you.

I can definitely get away from the computer, but I must have pen and paper and something to read: this is true wherever I travel. Part of "switching off" for me is the ability to just enjoy the environment, sure, and I can do that for hours and days. But every evening I'll get the urge to investigate some small aspect of the day, and then I'll want the right words and a place to put them.

Glad you got the relaxation you needed.

I know what you mean. Increasingly I find it hard to switch off from writing. And I can't even think of traveling without my laptop! For so many of us, writing is our passion and it becomes compulsive; however, your remarks about taking a much-needed break are well-taken. Recharging means that we can do more of what we love: writing!
