The amount I was asking wasn't much as I am just starting out, and it didn't feel right to me. After all, it was a lot of work to do and then get stiffed on, especially when a deposit would cost them so very little. So I politely wrote back saying I had no objection to the short time frame but I would require either a deposit or an escrow. Never heard from them again.
